SepOct 2009   I went to my first "Jalopy Race" in 1952, at the age of 13, at Harvard IL.
I couldn't figure out why many of the cars in the back rolled over - usually on the last lap of each race.  In the feature race, almost ALL the cars from maybe 5th place back rolled!  Later, I was told that the promoter paid $5 "Roll-Money", if they rolled over.  They didn't pay much & not far back - these guys at least would have gas money to go home....  Dick

JulAug & SepOct 2009    Fred Frame was BIG for Ford - with a Major WIN in the Elgin Road Race  (about 45 years ago I lived about less than a mile from the Grandstands... Dick
My friend & "Hero", Fritz Tegtmeier, was a "Riding Mechanic" (about 24 years old) in that race.
